November fun!

I got caught up in October and Red Eye things - - and sort of got behind in the rest of life.

NOVEMBER!
Camilla Parker Bowls (at the BLB) is an interview and improv show, featuring interviews with local storytellers, celebrities and interesting folk. The reins are then handed over to a group of improvisers, who take the themes created and present an original piece of improv - - all new, always different, always fun.

The theme for November is RECITAL! Featuring opera singer Laura Hynes, Nyes Polonaise Room/Saints Baseball and so much more pianist Andy Crowley, and co-founder of HUGE Theater, Nels Lennes. Improv by BOYTRON! Click here for more information!

Thursday Nov. 9th
9:30 p.m. doors, 10 p.m. show
$6 adv, $8 at door
Fun? FUN.

Explorer's Club at HUGE Wednesdays!
Wednesdays in November and December!
8 p.m., HUGE Theater! $5!
...we may not be wearing the costumes, but, good gracious, please come join us.

And finally, ADORABLE returns to Improv a Go Go! Huge Theater, Sunday November 20th, 8 p.m.. Yes? Yes.

Hoping things are lovely!!

"Hunter Gatherer" reviews

Oh hai. Yeaaaaa!! We have opened! And there's been some reviews!

*****************************
Rob Hubbard of the St. Paul Pioneer Press writes, "You may end up despising at least one of them, but it's great fun to watch this confluence of desires spiral out of control...."

"It might not work were it not for the vivid characterizations created by Red Eye's cast, skillfully directed by Steve Busa." "

"...Nachtrieb's propensity to push the envelope is more reminiscent of Harold Pinter, except a lot funnier."

And since this is my blog, I will be totally self serving. "Scott proves a reliably realistic anchor when the storms of absurdity start to blow." W00t!

Full review here.

******************************
Dwight Hobbes of the TC Daily Planet didn't like the play so much, but very kindly wrote, " Kevin McLaughlin, Bethany Ford, Jen Scott and Dan Hopman, ably directed by Red Eye artistic director Steven Busa, conduct a virtual clinic on how to thoroughly engage an audience, keeping everyone with you every step of the way."

"So, you’ve got brilliant actors enlivening what narrowly avoids being an “I could’ve had a V-8 evening.” Thank God for Kevin McLaughlin, Bethany Ford, Jen Scott and Dan Hopman."

My self-serving bit: "Jen Scott hilariously fleshes out Pam–you’ve heard of the sex-starved; this poor woman is famished. Scott crafts a desperately warmhearted portrayal you can feel across the room."

Full review here.

*********************************
And finally, Graydon Royce of the Star Tribune writes, "...poor Pam bears the countenance of someone with an eternal case of gas."

"Hunter Gatherers" by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb runs through Oct. 30th, at the Red Eye Theater.

Would love to see you there! :)

Hunter Gatherers! And more Camilla!

Hi friends!

I am thrilled and honored and excited - - please come check out Hunter Gatherers at the Red Eye Theater, running Oct. 14th - 30th. Called a "mash-up of the most brutal episode of Wild Kingdom and any episode of South Park" by the San Francisco Bay Guardian.. that's a pretty apt description.

The script is so smart. And so well written. And so damned funny. And terrible. This is the playwright's blog. (Be charmed!) This is the cast. Dan, Kevin and Bethany are awesome. Come see come see!

In the midst of Hunting and Gathering, there is also a CAMILLA!!!!!

The theme for October is GHOSTS!

Featuring real life ghost stories from local artist Alison Nowak, local actress/improviser Taj Ruler, and founder of the MN Paranormal Investigators, John Savage! All this, plus spoooooky improv by Boytron!

Thursday Oct. 6th, 10 p.m. at the Bryant Lake Bowl.
See Camillaparker.blogspot.com for details.

Neat? Super neat.

Hoping your fall is beautiful!

The last post was in February????

Jeez. I have failed at self-promotion. What has happened since February?
What happened?
- Overheard in Minneapolis at HUGE
This was such a great run. By the end of the run, it felt like we were breathing this form. So good. :)

- Ka-Baam!!! at HUGE
It will be back.

- I went away for a long time.

- I came back!

- The Score at HUGE
Again, it always ends too soon! Hot damn, this was fun.

- Camilla Parker Bowls (at the BLB) talked about love.
Please check out Camilla's blog for a full report.

- There was a big day.

- There was an IMPROV FESTIVAL.
And it was awesome. I have decided that TCIF comes on like church - - just when one needs to get reacquainted and reaffirmed with the stuff that one truly loves, TCIF springs up. We laughed so hard. We stayed up late. Do it again!

- I'm sleepy.

What's next?
- HUGE Justice at HUGE. Fridays in July, 8 p.m., $5.

- Star Trek: The Next Improvisation at HUGE. Saturdays in July, 8 p.m., $5.

- Camilla Parker Bowls (at the BLB) is gonna talk with some NERDS. July 14th, 10 p.m., BLB.

- I'm gonna go away.

- I'm gonna miss Fringe. :(

- I'm gonna come back.

- I got cast in "Romeo & Juliet" at the Pioneer Place on 5th in St. Cloud. I get to play a mom. :)

The lameness of this blog post will be offset by the delightfulness of the shows! Please join us! :)
