December December...

Hi friends! Just a quick update:

 - Levi Weinhagen is the kindest and most patient interviewers around. I'm completely honored to be a part of his Pratfalls of Parenting podcast. Meep!

 - Freshwater Theatre's anthology "For Better Or Worse" is now available on Amazon! (I wrote one of the pieces in it.. Exciting!)

 - Another of my small plays will be featured in Table Salt Production's "After the Apple", which is an evening of short plays by local women playwrights, directed by local women directors. Neat? Neat.

 - I'll be at HUGE Theater, Saturday Dec. 29th, 8 p.m., for the last "Family Dinner". This show has been a complete delight. Please join us! :)

 - Finished directing a play at Humboldt High School in St. Paul. We did it! Actually, THEY did it. Congrats to all involved!!

A Mystery Cafe gig, some last teaching.. and then it's 2013. January 2013. This still sort of blows my mind.

Hoping your holidays are beautiful!!

Ah, Toronto.. and a SURPRISE HOLY CRAP!

Hi friends!

The Toronto Improv Festival was great. Generous awesome crowd, generous awesome organizers. We appeared, did a show in a lovely giant blackbox theater, got our first non-alcoholic suggestion (which was lovely!), reunited with the excellent Meghan Wolff (who rocked it), secured crepes, and then walked back to our hotel, dodging mummies and drunk Power Rangers. Canada believes in Halloween. :)

ANNOUNCEMENT! HOLY CRAP!

Mike Doughty will be our Armando for a special performance at HUGE Theater.

If you're not sure who Mike Doughty is, think former Soul Coughing front man, amazing solo artist, writer, storyteller and good god. (Also think me listening obsessively, between the years 1995 and.. 2010? I've hung out with this guy's voice a lot.)

If you're not sure what an Armando is, don't worry: it just means that he's going to tell stories (!!! and he's an excellent storyteller), and then we shall improvise inspired by said stories.

If you're not sure what HUGE is, what better time to check it out, indeed? :)

Am I excited? Indeedy do. So very.

Armando Night featuring Mike Doughty.
THIS Friday Nov. 2nd
10:30 p.m., $20, HUGE Theater.

November is for turkeys and the funny.

October was fun. So much fun. But it's not over yet!

The beautiful Emily Schmidt and I head to the Toronto Improv Festival! Our duo, Ladies Who Drink, performs on Saturday October 27th at 9 p.m. I'm so damned excited to play with her, neither of us have been to that side of Canada, Toronto looks amazing, I get to take an airport shuttle. Meep!

Creature Feature has a special Halloween performance! 8 p.m., October 31st, HUGE Theater.

Family Dinner starts up in November. Ohmygod, the cast makes me so happy. It's what it says it is: an improvised holiday dinner. It'll be wonderful and terrible. Please come! Saturdays, 8 p.m., HUGE Theater.

Adorable will be performing sometime during the IMPROV-A-THON, Thursday November 15th, HUGE Theater. It might be in the middle of the night. Please come in your PJs (and it's Give To The Max Day! Important!)

The Theater of Public Policy continues to be awesome.. (I'll be performing with them on Thursday November 15th, 7 p.m.,  HUGE Theater.)

And I think I'm involved with a mysterious show called the Nightmare Video Project, Saturday November 17th, 10:30 p.m., HUGE Theater.

Finally, the All Star Variety Show Bonanza returns, Monday November 3rd! I have the honor of looking at the cast list. Good good. It'll be great. 7 p.m., Bryant-Lake Bowl.

Thanks, friends! Stay sane during these election times and see you in a bit. :)

Ohh! The closing of "Eurydice" was too short, too short.. lovely audience, lovely cast, lovely crew, lovely all!

One final review from TCDaily Planet. "Walking Shadow’s production provides the audience with a fitting showcase for this intensely personal and poetic script." and "Scott’s facial impressions are especially noteworthy." Whoohoo! So lovely! Many thanks to all!

And upcoming shows!

And finally, this starting this week..
CREATURE FEATURE returns! HUGE Theater, 8 p.m. Saturdays and a special 8 p.m. HALLOWEEN show on (well) HALLOWEEN, Wednesday Oct. 31st. Improvised horror for your improvised horror needs.

And reviews!

Fancy!

Star Tribune... So thanks to Walking Shadow for holding this exquisite jewel to the light with exceptional care and affection. It is that rarest of things: a sad joy." oh!

Aisle Say Twin Cities... "Bryan Grosso, Bethany Peters, and Jen Scott's trio of stones serves as a perfect anchor to this floating world: both comic and repellent, they embody the underworld’s imposed silence and suppressed thought.) ... It is a tribute to the Walking Shadow’s courage and ability that they have chosen such a challenging play and have staged it beautifully."

CityPages was nice, but thought we could have done better.

And MPR wonders "What did you think?"

Pretty happy. Yea! :)

We've opened!

Creepy creepy stones.

"Eurydice" by Sarah Ruhl, Walking Shadow Theater Company

Hey guys...

Remember when I did that one-woman show where I dressed all in black while in a black box theater?

Erm.. Yes, neither do I.

If I do do a one-woman show in a black box theater, I promise to wear some color. You're welcome.

Many thanks to Anna Weggel for the awesome (if not self-indulgent) shots! :)

Marcy's Open School Playground!!! And more!

Hi friends! Hoping your incredibly early and beautiful (and spooky) spring has been treating you excellently!

"Girls Only: The Secret Comedy of Women" over at the New Century Theater closed Sunday - - a lovely run! Too short, but so much fun.

Attempted PowerPoint Karaoke with Theater Arlo twice -- I wanna try again! And got to talk about stereotypes at the All Star Show, as hosted by Dawn Brodey and George Keller. Amazing folks. So much to love!!

But - - still more to see! :)

RomCom plays through the end of March. As the the Theater of Public Policy. Both at HUGE Theater.

Marcy's Open School Playground has one last run! Saturday April 21st, 10:30 p.m., HUGE Theater. Good god. This has been so much fun. The first one featured pirates from the honest-to-god Science Museum of Minnesota. We learned and then chased and caught a puppet named Syphilis. The second one featured guest expert Carin Bratlie (!), Billy Bilingual and my abusive Irish dead grandfather. What will the 3rd one hold? Michael Ritchie as puppet Chairman Mao? Hannah Kuhlmann as Cheryl the raccoon? YES POSSIBLY AND MORE!!

Camilla Parker Bowls (at the BLB) returns April 12 at a new shiny time of 7 p.m.!

OMG: Before We Got Your Lady Bits returns Friday March 23rd at 10:30 p.m. at Mixed Blood!

The All-Star Show. Monday April 2nd, 7 p.m., Bryant Lake Bowl. Hell yeah. :)

Win? Win. Happy equinox, friends. :)

Happy 2012!

Indeed! Welcome the Mayan/Aztec/Nostradamus/what? My 94 year old grandpa even know about it - - which means it's real. (I hope not, but.. you know..)

December was full of lovely! Jim & Dennis of Tablesalt Productions were nice enough to let me come play in their remount of SPIKED, a holiday variety show.

We're nice!

Also got to do
HUGE Theater's "Off-Book" which is possibly more fun than fun and a couple of Mystery Cafe' show, which I love.

Onward to 2012 and JANUARY!

I am the understudy for Hennepin Theater Trust's' "Girls Only: The Secret Comedy of Women", which is smart, funny and full of delight!

And also hoping to be in a couple of HUGE shows as permitted.. (Thursday night's HAROLD.. and soon, Thursday night's "Theater of Public Policy", Friday night's "Stop Talking" and Saturday night's "RomCom" - - w00t!)

Also... please keep your eyes out for 3rd Kind Comedy.. It's going to be awesome.

Camilla Parker Bowls (at the BLB) should be coming back soon.. Possibly March or April? Updates soon! Improv a Go Go dates also! And maybe a "Star Trek: The Next Improvisation" remount? YEAAA!!

Happy funny new years! Hoping to see you soon!
