Guys! It's happening!

Hi friends... A new show! Exciting! Look, a rubber chicken! Come see!

The theme for January show is FUNNY PEOPLE - - and we've got local comedian/playwright/monekywrangler Joseph Scrimshaw, local comedian/playwright/stand up bear Brian Beatty and the founders of HUGE Theater Jill Bernard, Butch Roy and Nels Lennes.

All of that, and improv by BOY TRON! HOLY CRAP!

****************************************

This coming January 2011 - - local improviser and sometimes funny person Jen Scott presents:

CAMILLA PARKER BOWLS (AT THE BLB)
A brand new improv and interview show at the Bryant Lake Bowl.

Camilla Parker Bowls (at the BLB) invites local celebrities, storytellers, rock stars, funny people, writers, troublemakers and all sorts of interesting folk to the Bryant Lake Bowl stage. CHICAGO AVENUE PROJECT!!

This Monday and Tuesday! Pillsbury House Theater! CHICAGO AVENUE PROJECT!!!

a) What is the Chicago Avenue Project?
A fabulous program that takes at-risk kids and pairs them with professional dramaturgs, directors and actors to produce original works - as written by the kids.

b) Why is it more fun than fun?
Not only are you watching plays about talking waterfalls and steak-loving guinea pigs, you're watching some amazing talent perform plays about waterfalls and steak-loving guinea pigs. (Gratuitous name drop: this year's performance features Taj Ruler, Christina Baldwin, Zoe Pappas, Simone Perin, George Keller, Patrick Boyle and more... The talent!)

The feel of each performance is one of a pep rally - - encouraging, supporting, thrilled, silly. It's great. And honestly, some of the most surprising and heartfelt stuff around.

I'm doing the music for Chicago Avenue Project again - - Come listen to some amazing singers do incredible stuff with my very very simple songs. (I never met a downbeat I didn't like.)

What came of it...

Hi friends. The Flash Fiction event was great. Replacement Press rules - - We Became Actors played. There were cupcakes from Sweets Bake Shop. We had so much fun.

If you feel like it, at the end of this blog entry is what I wrote for it. (in Muddy Waters, trying not to watch the hurricane happening outside.)

Thanks so much!!

P.S. The Quest/Hero's Journey is at Improv A Go Go tonight! Yea!

Tonight! Flash Fiction Improv - FREE

Holy crap. OMG was delightful. Stupidly wonderfully delightful. Thank you to all ladies involved!

*Note to self - - when you laugh hard enough that you end up crying (which, honest to god, is a regular occurrence for me. My laughter gland and my crying gland are oddly and closely placed), you tend to scare even the most supportive of audiences. But, oh.. I laughed so much..

Onward to:

Tonight! An event by Replacement Press: This should be fun. Seriously. Fun.

SATURDAY, JULY 17, 8-10: FLASH FICTION IMPROV
Bringing this week of artistic and literary hijinks to a close is an event unlike any we've attempted before: an improv literary contest! A handful of Twin Cities writers/improv-ers will be given a prompt, then compose a piece of flash fiction on the spot and compete for your laughter and applause. There will also be live music by local band WE BECAME ACTORS.

What my producer says about The Quest at the Fringe!!!

***********************************************

It's an improvised myth, The Quest, At a pegan community center.

I'm co-producing a BYOV show. The V is for Venue! That is also what people in the biz call "site specific".

One block north of the Gremlin at University and Raymond in Saint Paul. One block from the Gremlin! Nothing feels close to the Gremlin. Am I right? But this is so close!

Just past the liquor store on the corner, and then a new age gift shop, and Key's Restaraunt, then a funny bus bench, then an alley, then the Women's Press... then us! We'll have a sandwich board or something out. I'll probably be standing in front of the Gremlin, actually, telling you to come see our show, so you could also look for me.

7pm. Every day. You could buy tickets right now. Or learn about our previews!

If you've read this far. Thank you.

If you've read this far. I am so sorry.

Damian
